It happens every year…the summer quickly flies by and before we know it Labor Day Weekend has arrived. Even though a great many people consider summer their favorite season – and they hate to see it end – we must admit that the summer of 2019 was truly outstanding here in Sea Isle City.

Not only did we have wonderful weather that resulted in perfect beach days and pleasant nights along the Promenade, we also enjoyed a terrific four-day July Fourth Weekend, we celebrated our Beach Patrol’s 100th Anniversary in grand style, we had a variety of successful community events that were very well attended, we welcomed back many familiar faces to town, and many new friendships were forged along the way.

So, with all that in mind, I am going to declare the summer of 2019 a huge success!

For many folks, our Saturday Night “Concerts Under the Stars” are a highlight to the summer season.

This year, very large crowds gathered at Excursion Park on Saturday evenings, and from all reports audience members thoroughly enjoyed each show.

But the fun’s not over yet, because we still have one more free concert left this summer, which also promises to be a good one.

If you are a fan of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, join us at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and dance the night away as the band, “Lights Out,” pays homage to the “Jersey Boys.”

Because the summer is very precious to so many of us, and because we continually strive to provide our residents and visitors with first-rate entertainment and services, we are already making plans that will ensure that the summer of 2020 will also be a success. In the meantime, however, we have more fun planned in the weeks and months ahead.

As I have said in the past, “the good times don’t end on Labor Day…they continue throughout the year in Sea Isle City.” So be sure to check-out our calendar of events at www.VISITSICNJ.com to learn about what’s happening at your favorite shore town.

One event in particular that I would like to remind everyone about is our 2nd Annual Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony, which is a free gathering on September 7 at Excursion Park that’s open to all married couples.

Participants are already registering for this year’s ceremony, so please see the special section of this E-Newsletter if you and your spouse would like to renew your wedding vows and celebrate your love for one another in true Sea Isle City-style.

Now that the summer is drawing to a close, so too is the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s 2019 season. Please be aware that after Labor Day weekend the SICBP will have fewer lifeguards on duty, and therefore we will have fewer protected beaches during the month of September. To help make everyone aware of which beaches will be guarded after Labor Day, SICBP Chief Renny Steele has created a list of locations along our shoreline that will be protected.

You can find that list in a special section of this E-Newsletter, at the Welcome Center, and on the Beach Patrol’s Facebook page. If you have any questions about lifeguard coverage before or after Labor Day, please phone Beach Patrol Headquarters at 609-263-3655. All beach-goers are reminded to enter the water only when a lifeguard is present!

This week’s “Shout-Out” goes to Teri O’Connor, owner of NJ Beach Yoga. In addition to being a skilled and beloved yoga instructor who leads Sea Isle’s summer yoga classes on the JFK Boulevard Beach and our indoor classes at the Community Lodge during the fall, winter and spring, Teri truly understands the meaning of the words “giving back to the community.”

Each June, July and August, Teri offers free “Full Moon Yoga” classes, which attract hundreds of participants, and each Labor Day she leads a free “Pose for Peace” yoga class, which also delights a huge crowd of people – and raises money for charity. Thank you for all you do, Teri!

Have a Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Smile…You’re in Sea Isle!
