Maddy Vitale

MediaWize is pleased to announce the hiring of Maddy Vitale as a staff writer for, and

Maddy brings with her more than 20 years of experience in journalism as a reporter and as an editor.

She has covered everything from crime and courts to community feature stories. From 2000 to 2008, she was the court reporter for The Press of Atlantic City. Prior to that, she worked in the Statehouse covering politics for The Trenton Times. She also wrote many stories involving local issues when she worked for the Wildwood Leader and Galloway Current.

In 2015, she won a first place New Jersey Press Association Award for her series of stories on revitalization in Wildwood. She is also a first-place winner of the NJPA’s Art Weissman Award for her coverage of government and the Richard T. Baker Award from Columbia University. Most recently, she worked as managing editor for Shore Local Newsmagazine.

Maddy’s experience in communications also includes serving as Public Information Officer for the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office from 2008 to 2011.

She has her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, and is a graduate of Monmouth University with a degree in communications.

Maddy lives with her husband, Donald Wittkowski, senior staff writer for MediaWize, in Galloway Township.


MediaWize currently operates local news platforms in Ocean City, NJ, Sea Isle City, NJ and Somers Point, NJ with new sites launching in the near future in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Upper Township, NJ and Margate, NJ.
