The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management is warning of damaging high winds that will blow through the area from Friday afternoon into early Saturday morning.

The forecast calls for northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph from 2 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday.

“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” according to the warning.

The strongest wind gusts are most likely to occur from late Friday afternoon through the predawn hours Saturday.
