This warm holiday family scene taken by Alan Nesensohn captured the hearts of our readers and won our Christmas Photo Contest.

Alan Nesensohn is a self-professed “guy who likes to take chances” and it paid off with a winning entry in the SeaIsleNews.com Christmas Photo Contest.

Nesensohn’s image of his wife Gerri and granddaughters Danica, 3, and Arianna, 6, snuggling underneath a festive Christmas blanket in front of their Christmas tree not only warmed the family, it warmed the hearts of our readers who gave the picture the most “likes” on the SeaIsleNews Facebook page.

Thus, Nesensohn, a Sea Isle resident of 79th Street, walked off with first prize, a $100 gift card to Mike’s Seafood.

Bill Rodgers took second prize and a $50 gift card.

Suffering temporary insomnia, Nesensohn was perusing our Facebook page when he learned about the contest and posted the picture around 3 a.m.

“I couldn’t sleep and I was looking at (the Facebook page). I think I was the first person to post a picture and I’m very happy to have won. I might eat 15 pounds of lobster (now),” he said, laughing.

He thinks the readers liked his picture because they could relate to it.

“It’s just a nice warm family scene,” he said.

Getting back to Nesensohn’s affinity for taking chances, it turns out his photo contest win was just part of his Christmas good fortune.

“Earlier, I had entered another contest, and when (he checked his e-mail) I had not one but three $10 Amazon gift cards I won in the other contest,” he said.

We advised Nesensohn to run out and purchase a lottery ticket while he was on his winning roll.

“Believe me, that is something I’ve already thought about,” he said.
