One of the Deauville Inn’s last winter projects is well underway and will soon provide a safer environment for boaters and wildlife alike, the historic Strathmere restaurant announced in a press release.
Over the past year, the Deauville Inn’s team has been working closely with federal, state and local agencies and officials to ensure the dock project adheres to all laws, regulations and codes, according to the release.
The previous configuration was set up as a marina, and the new configuration for the docks will be transient.
The current dredging and dock re-installation is ahead of schedule and should be functional by the beginning of April.
Project facts:
- The current dredging project is 100 percent permitted and approved by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Upper Township.
- Prior to approvals, the Deauville Inn hired state surveyors to analyze local wildlife and minimize environmental impact.
- The increase in depth at the beach provides a safer environment for boaters, even at low tide, and brings the docks up to code. To facilitate the improvements, the Deauville Inn retained local industry leader Scarborough Marine Group of Marmora.
- The new dock system being installed by EZ Docks mirrors the previous outline, is more environmentally friendly and will be safer for the Deauville Inn’s patrons.
- Because erosion on the Strathmere beach is an annual concern, often resulting in substantial taxpayer burden, the Deauville Inn provided 1,843 cubic yards of displaced sand to help replenish the local beach.
- A launch event for the new dock system is planned for early May. Additional updates will be released on the Deauville Inn’s social media pages and website at www.deauvilleinn.com.
