Babies who have not yet learned to walk can participate in the Sara the Turtle Festival “Diaper Derby” Crawling Competition on Wednesday, June 27, at Excursion Park in Sea Isle City

On Wednesday, June 28, Sea Isle City’s Division of Tourism will host the resort’s 2017 Sara the Turtle Festival at Excursion Park, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (rain date: June 29). The festival will include a variety of free family activities, live entertainment, nature displays and the chance to pet a menagerie of exotic animals.

Festival-goers of all ages will enjoy exhibits by the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, the Sea Isle City Beachcomber Guides and other organizations that will offer information and hands-on displays. There will also be live animal exhibits by New Jersey Nature and the Wetlands Institute, featuring Diamondback Terrapin Turtles, snakes and other critters.  The 2017 Sara the Turtle Festival will also have strolling entertainers, face painters, an inflatable bounce house, a sand art booth, and a turtle nesting display by Sea Isle Terrapin Rescue – not to mention many family photo-ops.

Come to Excursion Park in Sea Isle City on June 28 for the Sara the Turtle Festival, which will include free entertainment, hands-on nature displays and live animal exhibits.

Non-walking babies are invited to participate in the festival’s charming “Diaper Derby” crawling contest, which will begin at 7:10 p.m. at Excursion Park. Then, at 7:20 p.m., boys and girls, ages 2 to 12, can compete in the evening’s “Kid’s Sprinting Races” on the JFK Boulevard Beach.  Awards will be presented to the winners of both competitions.

The Sara the Turtle Festival will culminate with a musical presentation by The Turtlesingers, who will introduce audience members to a variety of live turtles as they sing about the important role the hard-shelled reptiles play in nature.

During Sea Isle City’s annual Sara the Turtle Festival on June 28, the “Turtlesingers” will perform at Excursion Park — and children will enjoy learning about the important role turtles play in the environment.
