Cape May County’s annual Patriot’s Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m.

The Cape May County Board of County Commissioners invites the public to attend the remembrance that will be held in front of the William E. Sturm Administration Building’s 9/11 Memorial Garden, located at 4 Moore Road in Cape May Court House.

The ceremony will honor the nearly 3,000 people who were killed during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

“We believe it is important to remember those men and women who we tragically lost over two decades ago,” said Commissioner Director Leonard Desiderio. “The entire Commissioner Board appreciates the yearly support we get from the public for this ceremony to help us honor those we lost.”

Speakers will include Desiderio, Commissioner Vice-Director Jeffrey Pierson, and Captain Warren D. Judge, who is the Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Training Center Cape May.

“This is also an annual chance to say thank you to the men and women serving in our police departments, fire departments, and as EMS personnel,” Pierson said. “They were the ones running into the burning buildings and who also go out of their way to protect us every day.”
