The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management has declared “Code Blue” conditions from Sunday night to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.

A Code Blue advisory is issued when frigid weather poses a danger to the homeless population.

Code Blue is in effect when the temperature reaches 25 degrees or lower with clear skies or 32 degrees or lower with precipitation or when the National Weather Service forecasts a windchill temperature of zero or less for a period of two hours or more.

People seeking temporary shelter in a warming center should contact their local municipality.
