In advance of a strong storm system affecting the region, the National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Sea Isle City coinciding with high tide around 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday. Minor to moderate tidal flooding is expected.

Heavy rain began Thursday afternoon and was forecast to go into Friday morning. This may cause flood waters to reach higher levels.

The city’s Office of Emergency Management is urging anyone who lives in or parks in low-lying areas to move their vehicles to higher ground, such as the Sea Isle City Library parking lot at 48th Street and Central Avenue.

In addition, high, gusty winds starting Thursday night will continue into Friday, followed by a sharp drop in temperature, which will continue through the Christmas weekend.

Residents are asked to secure any outdoor items or decorations from the high winds and rain and be prepared for cold temperatures.

Officials also emphasized not to drive through floodwaters and to be careful when driving after the temperature drops because the roads may be icy or slick.

Should you need non-emergency police assistance at any time, call 609-263-4311, extension 0.

If you have an emergency, call 911.

Temperatures will plummet through the weekend.
