At the start of the November 12 City Council meeting, Business Administrator George Savastano updated Council on the pending Beach Replenishment Project that will add sand to Sea Isle City’s downtown beaches and also in the south-end of town.
Mr. Savastano explained that the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company is expected to mobilize in Sea Isle City in mid-April and complete dredging operations by mid-June.
During the “Council Reports” portion of the November 12 meeting, Council President J.B. Feeley announced the results of the recent “Swimming Pool Survey” and the non-binding referendum question that was on the November 5 election ballot.
Mr. Feeley explained that the majority of the property owners and residents who completed the survey and answered the referendum question are not in favor of the City constructing a municipal swimming pool.
Next, Mr. Feeley asked for a motion from Council to instruct the City’s Administration to begin the process of planning the construction of a new recreation facility at 4501 Park Road without a swimming pool, which each council member present supported adding to the Consent Agenda.
Each of the resolutions on the November 12 Consent Agenda was approved, including:
· Resolution 186, which authorized the execution of the 2020-2021 Municipal Alliance Grant. The money from this grant will be used by Sea Isle City’s Municipal Alliance Committee for the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.
· Resolution 189, which authorized the purchase of a new 60-inch lawn mower using funds from the City’s Tennis Fee Trust.
· Resolution 190, which authorized the award of a professional services contract to prepare a FEMA Grant for funds that would help pay for a future flood water pumping station near 43rd Street.
· Resolution 193, which re-established Sea Isle City’s Green Team Advisory Committee through Sustainable Jersey.
· Resolution 196, which authorized the renewal of a 12-month towing contract with Court House Towing.
Following the regular meeting on November 12, City Council hosted a Capital Plan Workshop later that day at 1:00 p.m. During the workshop, Business Administrator George Savastano and Chief Financial Officer Paula Doll outlined the City’s proposed 5-year Capital Plan.
