At the start of the July 28 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio spoke about the importance of wearing face masks and social distancing in public – and how it is virtually impossible to enforce these directives. The Mayor also stated that this topic is a “matter of personal responsibility” and “being mindful of other people and their health is just the right thing to do.”

City Council echoes the Mayor’s comments in the hope that everyone in Sea Isle City – and elsewhere – will follow all CDC safety directives, wear face masks, and practice social distancing.

Each of the seven Resolutions on the July 28 Consent Agenda was approved, including:

  • Resolution 119, which authorized the refund of deposits to vendors who planned to attend the 2020 Skimmer Festival Seaside Market, following the cancellation of that event due to COVID-19.
  • Resolution 122, which authorized the award of a contract for $1,117,971 to Perna-Finnigan, Inc. for sanitary sewer replacement along Central Avenue.

The City’s engineer, Maser Consulting, recently sent a letter to the residents in the area of Central, Sounds and Roberts Avenues (56th Street to 57th Street) informing them of upcoming roadway reconstruction. City Council reminds all residents and visitors that the City’s Administration provides regular “Project Updates” relating to municipal construction projects, which can be found in Sea Isle City’s bi-weekly E-Newsletter and at www.seaislecitynj.us.

In other news, City Council recently learned that the Philadelphia Flyers organization is hosting a “mobile pep rally” in Sea Isle City on Monday, August 10, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The pep rally will run along the entire length of Park Road, then along 48th Street (Park Road to Central Avenue), Central Avenue (48th Street to 36th Street), 36th Street (Central Avenue to Cini Avenue) and Cini Avenue (36th to JFK Boulevard). City Council reminds all spectators to please practice social distancing during this free community event.

The next City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 11, at 10 a.m. Information about that meeting will be forthcoming.
