At the start of the March 26 City Council meeting, Business Administrator George Savastano announced that repairs to the Townsends Inlet Bridge will not be completed within the project’s original timeframe, and the bridge will not be open in time for Memorial Day Weekend.

The Cape May County Engineer’s Office is expected to announce a new completion date for this project in the weeks ahead.

Following the Administrator’s Report, Councilman Kehner announced that Sea Isle City’s Environmental Commission, Garden Club and Historical Society will be co-hosting a free Arbor Day Celebration at 12 noon on Friday, April 26, at the Community Lodge, which the public is welcome to attend.

Ordinances 1630 and 1631 had Second Reading and Public Hearing during the March 26 City Council meeting, after which both were immediately adopted:

· Ordinance 1630 prohibits the sale, cultivation, manufacturing and testing of medicinal and nonmedical marijuana in Sea Isle City.

· Ordinance 1631 is a routine ordinance written in conjunction with our Municipal Budget, which serves as a mechanism to allow the City to roll over unused cap money for potential use in future years.

Also during the March 26 City Council meeting, Resolution 035-A had Second Reading and Public Hearing and was approved in due course, which allowed Council to adopt Sea Isle City’s 2019 Municipal Budget. The total general appropriations for the 2019 Municipal Budget are $24,642,937.84, of which the total amount raised by taxes for support of the budget is $17,681,270.77.

Each of the Resolutions on the March 26 Consent Agenda was approved, including:

· Resolution 055, which authorized the approval of a Raffle Application for the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City’s Sailing Foundation.

· Resolution 059, which authorized participation in a cooperative buying agreement for the purchase of a new vehicle for the City’s Construction Office.

Our next City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there!
