The Sea Isle City Fire Department responds to a fire on Central Avenue.

On Thursday night, the Sea Isle City Fire Department responded to 5605 Central Avenue for a report of a car fire in the driveway, which spread to the occupied dwelling. 

The residents were able to vacate the home and neighboring homes were also evacuated. With mutual aid from the Avalon, Strathmere and Ocean View fire departments, the fire was declared under control at 11:18 p.m., according to a press release. 

Sea Isle’s Division of EMS and Belleplain EMS were also on scene. There were no reported injuries.  An adjacent home sustained minor exterior heat damage. All neighboring residents were able to return to their homes. 

At this time, this incident is not suspicious in nature and is being investigated by the Sea Isle Police Department and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
