At 7 p.m. on Independence Day, residents and visitors across Sea Isle City will pause for the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” followed by a round of applause for all essential workers.
At the request of Sea Isle’s Commodore Club, the national anthem will be broadcast over the city’s new speaker system on the Promenade. Afterward, everyone will give a cheerful round of applause for the nation’s first responders, medical employees and other front-line workers.
Earlier in the week, Mayor Leonard Desiderio invited everyone in Sea Isle to participate in this event. Those who can’t be on the Promenade at 7 p.m. are encouraged to play “The Star-Spangled Banner” from their homes and cheer for essential workers afterwards.
Moments before 7 p.m., the mayor will make a brief announcement over the Promenade’s speaker system, just before the national anthem begins to play.
Many members of the Commodore Club and residents of the two Spinnaker Condominium Towers, which have nearly 200 residential units spanning nine floors, plan to participate in the ceremony.
