Award-winning author Garth Stein will be at the Sea Isle City Library for a presentation and book signing of his novel “The Art of Racing in the Rain.”

The meet and greet, sponsored by the Cape May County Library, is open to the public and will be held will be 6 p.m. Wednesday. The library is located at 4800 Central Ave.

Stein’s “The Art of Racing in the Rain” is a 2008 novel told from a dog’s point of view. The story is about a beloved philosopher dog named Enzo who teaches us everything we need to know about being human.

The novel was adapted for a 2019 movie of the same name starring Kevin Costner, Milo Ventimiglia, and Amanda Seyfried. “The Art of Racing in the Rain” has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, been translated into 36 languages and spent more than three years on the New York Times bestseller list.

The novel inspired a Young Reader edition as well as four children’s picture books, and a stage adaptation by Book-It Repertory Theatre in Seattle.

Stein is the author of three other novels: “A Sudden Light,” “How Evan Broke His Head and Other Secrets” and “Raven Stole the Moon” as well as a play, “Brother Jones.”
