Former Beach Patrol Capt. Bill Gallagher is given the opportunity to sound the horn each year to start his namesake race.

The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol will host the 2021 Capt. Bill Gallagher 10-Mile Island Run on Saturday, Aug. 14, on the 44th Street Beach. The race begins at 5:45 p.m.

Individual runners as well as members of organizations and running clubs are invited to participate.

The run takes place on a traffic-free, flat course. Approximately 2.5 miles of the course is on Sea Isle’s paved Promenade and the remainder is on the beach.

Online pre-registration for individual runners ($20 per person) is available until Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 11 p.m. Race day registration for individual runners ($35 per person) closes at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Online pre-registration for teams and organizations ($22 per person) is available until Aug. 11, at 11 p.m.

Registration for teams and clubs on race day ($37 per runner) closes at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 14. The number of runners allowed per team is unlimited. All team members must complete their own individual registrations.

Entry fees are non-refundable. High quality event T-shirts will be given to the first 1,100 registrants. Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners in different categories.
