Leave your beach chair at home? No worries.

Don’t have an umbrella? No sweat.

Need a kayak? You’re covered.

Those summer necessities will be available for Sea Isle City’s beachgoers to rent as part of concession agreements for the 2018 and 2019 vacation seasons.

City Council has authorized competitive bids from vendors for the kayak and beach gear concessions. The city has not yet scheduled the date for awarding the two-year contracts.

Beach concessions include such things as chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and inflatable rafts. Sea Isle will have concessions serving three areas: Between 29th and 44th streets, between 45th and 70th streets and between 71st and 89th streets.

Sea Isle will also award a contract for kayak rentals at two areas, at 56th Street and at 79th Street, according to City Clerk Shannon Romano.

City spokeswoman Katherine Custer said the beach concessions reflect the growing popularity of water sports at the shore, particularly kayaking on the ocean or back bays.

“The city wants to provide as much enjoyment for our residents and visitors as possible, and a kayak concession gives beachgoers who don’t own a kayak the chance to paddle in the surf,” Custer said.
