Mayor Leonard Desiderio Hopes Everyone will Sing “God Bless America” at 10:10am on September 11 – At the City’s Patriot Day Ceremony or Wherever They Are
The public is invited to join Mayor Leonard Desiderio, members of City Council, local religious leaders, first responders and other members of the community on Sunday, September 11, at 10:00 a.m. for Sea Isle City’s annual Patriot Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue. The ceremony will feature words of encouragement, patriotic hymns, and a variety of tributes to the men, women and children who died during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
Please note that the new start time of this event is 10:00 a.m. on September 11 (the ceremony was originally scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.).
At 10:10 a.m. during the Patriot Day Ceremony, all those in attendance will be invited to sing God Bless America, led by Henrietta Creighton, a 92-year-old Sea Isle City resident who has begun a campaign to encourage more people to sing the well-known hymn.
“Henrietta Creighton has inspired many people to sing God Bless America,” said Mayor Desiderio. “If you can’t be with us during Sea Isle’s Patriot Day Ceremony, please sing God Bless America at 10:10 a.m. on September 11 wherever you are.”
In the event of inclement weather, Sea Isle City’s Patriot Day Ceremony will be held inside the former Public School Building at 4501 Park Road. For additional information, please phone (609) 263-4461, ext.1245 or go to www.VisitSICNJ.com
