Salvatore A Pepe Jr., M.D. of Ocean City, New Jersey passed away at home Sunday, December 24, 2017 surrounded by his family at age 72.

He was born in Trenton NJ, and was raised in Hamilton Twp. NJ.  Moving to California in 1978, he lived in Orange County for 15 years. He returned to New Jersey in 1992 as the Director of the Emergency Department at Shore Medical Center, Somers Point, NJ.

Dr. Pepe was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ, and LaSalle University in Philadelphia PA. He continued his postgraduate education at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Morristown, and the University of Southern California School of Medicine, LAC/USC Medical Center’s Emergency Medicine Residency.

His medical career spanned over 40 years of patient care, as well as establishing and directing Emergency Departments on both coasts. He was board certified in Emergency and Urgent Care Medicine.

Dr. Pepe was a Life Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and a past President of the New Jersey Chapter of ACEP.  He was a Board Examiner of the Academy of Emergency Medicine for 20 years.  His last years have been seeing patients at ACUC in Galloway and CRUC in Cape May County.

His pre medical career was an airline pilot.

A man of faith, Dr. Pepe has been a member of St. Joachim and Blessed Sacrament Parishes in Trenton, The Mission of San Juan Capistrano, SJC Ca., and St. Damien Parish in Ocean City NJ.

 

Dr. Pepe is survived by his mother Susan Glodowski (Greg) of Las Vegas, NV, his wife Edie Leigh Pepe of Ocean City, and his children Dawn Pepe (Erin) of Austin, TX, Jill Matthews of Laderal Ranch Ca., Sal Pepe III of Mission Viejo Ca., Matthew Pepe, and Scott Pepe (Allie) Ocean City and three grandchildren Matteo, Orion and Aurelia.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Frances Cabrini RC Church, 2nd and Atlantic Ave. Ocean City, NJ with his Mass of Christian Burial being offered at 12 noon and friends may call from nine o’clock until the time of mass.
