In it’s final home stand of the 2018 regular season, the Ocean City High School field hockey team dominated Absegami High School 9-0. The win brings Ocean City’s record to 13-0 in conference and 15-2-1 on the season.

Jaclyn Charbonneau led all scorers with two goals and three assists on the evening while Molly Reardon (3g) Nya Gilchrist (2g) and Reese Bloomstead (1g, 1a) all contributed multiple points. Sophia Grisham added a goal and Shannon Decosta tallied an assist.  Five of Ocean City’s nine goals were assisted.

Ocean City was controlled the pace of the game from the first whistle to the final seconds. They were able to register 17 shots on goal while Absegami’s goalkeeper, Elizabeth Picardi came up with 28 saves on the evening.

The team utilized a number of players from the bench to keep the energy up on the field and allow Ocean City to get fresh legs in throughout the game. Teamwork was definitely on display this evening as the transition game was top notch.  The team connected on passes from one end of the field to the other, with powerful shots and beautifully assisted goals.

The Red Raiders will finish out the regular season as they face conference rival Mainland away on Friday afternoon. The team will then travel to play Bishop Eustace on Monday.

Playoffs begin next week and the unofficial state tournament bracket has Ocean City on a bye for the first round as the number one seed in South Jersey Group Three. Ocean City will then face the winner of Highland/Cherry Hill West on Thursday October 25 at home.
