In a blink, October came and went. Now that November has arrived, it won’t be long before the 2017 Holiday Season is here. However, before anyone starts wrapping Christmas presents and singing Jingle Bell Rock, there are several events on our immediate horizon that I hope you can attend…

First and foremost, November 11 is Veterans Day, and since it falls on a Saturday this year, we are looking forward to having a very large crowd of people at Veterans Park for Sea Isle’s 2017 Veterans Day Ceremony. That day we will honor all of America’s military veterans with words of praise, patriotic songs, and a floral wreath tribute. There will also be a presentation from the South Shore Stitchers, who will give handmade “Quilts of Valor” to several local vets. So, please mark your calendars and join us on 11 -11 at 11:00 a.m.

I’m sure many ladies are looking forward to the Chamber of Commerce & Revitalization’s annual Autumn Girls Weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 17, 18 and 19. During Girls Weekend, there will be discounts and special offers at businesses throughout town – so call your sisters, call your daughters and call your friends, and plan on being in Sea Isle City during Girls Weekend. For more information or to obtain a list of participating businesses, call 263-9090 or visit www.seaislechamber.com.

As I indicated earlier, the 2017 Holiday Season will be here before we know it. That means it’s almost time for our 25th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Toy and Food Drive, which will begin Thanksgiving Weekend. During the Toy and Food Drive, donation boxes will be positioned at City Hall, the Welcome Center and other locations around town, where anyone can make contributions of toys and non-perishable food items. I hope you can help us make the holidays brighter for a family in need. For more information or to learn how you can contribute in other ways, please phone (609) 263-4461, ext. 1245.

When Thanksgiving Weekend finally does roll around, don’t miss this year’s Holiday Extravaganza and Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa Claus at Excursion Park on Friday night, November 24. Then, keep the seasonal fun going on Day-2 of the Extravaganza before attending the Cape May County Police Chiefs Association Holiday Dash Toy Drive at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25. These and many other holiday events await you in Sea Isle City, so be sure to go to www.VISITSICNJ.com for more information – or check out the “Holiday Events” section in this Newsletter.

This week’s “Shout Out” goes to all of our Veterans, who bravely served our nation and preserved America’s freedom. As I have said many times before, “Here in Sea Isle we don’t just honor our veterans on Veterans Day – we honor them every day of the year.” That being said, don’t forget to thank every veteran you meet for his or her service throughout the year – and please try to join us on Veterans Day at Excursion Park!

Smile…You’re in Sea Isle!
