Mayor’s Message:

The holidays are in full swing here in Sea Isle City, and everywhere you turn people are really enjoying themselves! As is the case each year, the season kicked-off during Thanksgiving Weekend with Sea Isle’s annual Holiday Extravaganza at Excursion Park, which attracted thousands of holiday revelers.  The two-day Extravaganza featured an ice skating rink, a parade and other entertainment.  My thanks go to Sea Isle’s Chamber of Commerce for hosting this year’s Extravaganza – and to everyone who participated in the Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, which took place on Friday Night of the Extravaganza. Special thanks also go to the various fire departments and all the other participants of this year’s Holiday Parade – including the members of Dennis Volunteer Fire Company, who took home the parade’s first place trophy. Thank you all!

Also during Thanksgiving Weekend, the Cape May County Association of Chiefs of Police hosted their second annual Holiday Dash at KIX-McNutley’s, which benefitted our annual Mayor’s Toy and Food Drive.  My thanks go to everyone who participated in this year’s Dash, each of whom donated toys or non-perishable food items, and special thanks go to the Association of Police Chief’s, who donated $1000 to our drive!  Their generosity will go a long way this Christmas!

If you missed this year’s Holiday Dash and you would like to contribute to our 2017 Holiday Toy and Food Drive, please see the special “Toy Drive” section of this newsletter to learn how you can brighten the Christmas of a family in need.

This week, volunteers from the Sea Isle City Garden Club will be judging the properties that were entered in Sea Isle’s annual Holiday Lighting Contest – so look for the winners of that competition in our next E-Newsletter on December 21. Then, once the winners are announced, you can take your family on a tour of all the wonderfully decorated homes that were entered in the contest – and all of the other well-trimmed properties that have put their “best foot forward” this holiday season by displaying a bevy of awesome decorations!

Looking ahead, this weekend the Chamber of Commerce & Revitalization will host their annual Holiday Stroll on December 9 through Sea Isle City’s business districts, and the Catholic Daughters Wine Sampling fundraiser will also take place on December 9 at KIX-McNutley’s (proceeds from the Wine Sampling will support the ‘Daughter’s charitable efforts throughout the year). Also, VFW Post 1963 will host their annual Brunch with Santa on Sunday, December 17, and the Sea Isle City Fire Department will open the doors of the Fire House to the public on Wednesday evening, December 20, during their yearly Meet-and-Greet with Santa. To learn more about what’s happening in Sea Isle City in the weeks ahead – and throughout the year – simply go to our Visitors Website, www.VISITSICNJ.com, and click the “calendar” link.

Now that December has arrived and the Winter Solstice is just two weeks away, property owners are reminded that all homes and businesses need to be prepared for the cold weather.  Winterizing your property (whether it is occupied during the off season or not) can avoid potentially costly damages due to burst water pipes – so please take the necessary steps to protect your property before “Old Man Winter” arrives in full force and temperatures plummet.

I hope you are enjoying the holidays!

Smile…You’re in Sea Isle!
