Members of City Council - Sea Isle City

During Sea Isle City’s Municipal Election on May 9, there were three candidates on the ballot for City Council.  At the closing of the polls, new candidate J.B. Feeley received 330 votes, incumbent Mary Tighe received 327 votes, and incumbent Jack Gibson received 323 votes.  Mr. Feeley, Miss Tighe and Mr. Gibson will be sworn-in and begin their terms of office on July 1 at 12 noon.

City Council’s next meeting will take place on Saturday, May 20, which is Sea Isle City’s Community Day.

During the May 20th meeting, City Council will consider introduction of an ordinance for amendment of the hours when music, dancing and entertainment are prohibited at outside bars and restaurants. The amendment will focus on extending the part of the existing ordinance which affects when a licensee can allow, permit or suffer on the exterior portion of their licensed premises – or any part thereof – any music, dancing or entertainment except between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. from Monday through Thursday and between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This amendment, if approved by City Council, would be subject to re-examination within one year from the date of passage.

During City Council’s meeting on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, Council will consider introduction of an amendment to the Sidewalk Dining Ordinance – specifically its hours of operation.  This amendment will focus on allowing the hours of sidewalk dining to be from 7:00 a.m. to 12-midnight on all days of the week. The restaurants which allow alcohol (whether provided by the establishment or brought to the property by the patron) shall be allowed only from 11:00 a.m. to 12-midnight on all days of the week.

Also on May 30, City Council will consider introduction of an amendment to the Sidewalk Dining Ordinance that will allow restaurants to leave their tables and chairs outside in the public right of way during non-business hours.

These amendments, if approved by City Council, would also be subject to re-examination.

City Council would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated in this year’s Beach Clean-Up, which took place on April 29.  Thank you all for donating your time to that worthy cause!

We hope to see you on Saturday, May 20, at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers – and at the Community Day activities that will take place at the Community Lodge!
