Former Councilman John Divney would like the city to reduce housing density in the residential zones to help ease overcrowding.

The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization will honor former Councilman John Divney as its 2018 Founders Award Recipient.

The award, first presented in 2011, recognizes someone from the business, civic or political community who made major contributions to the well-being of Sea Isle City.

Past winners include: Thomas Henry, Irene Jameson, Michael McHale, Dave Farina, Michael Stafford, Jim Iannone and Bill Buchanan.

Divney served three terms on City Council and was also the city’s liaison to the Chamber of Commerce. He decided not to seek re-election in 2017.

The Chamber will recognize Divney during the 2018 Around the World Social on Friday, Sept. 28, at the Sandbar and Grill.
