The Snake Brothers Band provided upbeat music on Sunday of Skimmer Festival Weekend

Each Father’s Day weekend, Sea Isle City’s Division of Tourism hosts the resort’s Skimmer Festival, a popular two-day event that offers enjoyment for every member of the family. This year’s Skimmer Weekend on June 18 & 19 delighted tens of thousands of festival-goers and helped launch the City’s summer entertainment season in grand style.

On Saturday of Skimmer Weekend, a fabulous food court, free amusement rides, a variety of family activities and live music were offered at Excursion Park. Meanwhile, nearly 400 merchandise vendors lined the resort’s Promenade for Skimmer’s annual Seaside Vendors Market.

“This is the largest turn-out of classic vehicles we’ve seen in recent memory, and it’s probably due to the incredible weather we had during the festival,” said auto show organizer Jim Ambro. “There was a terrific variety of antiques on display, mainly from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s; and the two winners both had exception examples of their particular vehicles.”

“Skimmer Festival was a huge success – it was our biggest and best Skimmer Weekend ever,” said festival organizer Diane Merson, of the City’s Tourism Office.  “The addition of free amusement rides added to the family atmosphere and really made people happy, and the vendors market was very well attended on Saturday.  Plus, the Trolley Tours were filled to capacity and the Auto Show had an amazing turn-out on Sunday. It was a great weekend!”
