The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Alumni Association recently hosted their annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Oar House Pub in Sea Isle City’s historic Fish Alley, where four former SICBP lifeguards were inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame. The Alumni Association has been welcoming past Beach Patrol members into their Hall of Fame since 2001 as a way to recognize outstanding alumni.  This year’s four new inductees bring the total number of members of the Hall of Fame to 48.

The 2018 SICBP Alumni Association’s Hall of Fame Inductees include John Coleman, who was appointed as Sea Isle’s first official Lifeguard Captain in 1919 and was credited for numerous achievements, including saving many lives, being a tremendous long distance swimmer, and starting many initiatives to keep swimmers safe; Greg Horton, a 7-year SICBP member, who won many lifeguard competitions in the 1980’s and 1990’s; Dr. Sean Harbison, an 8-year SICBP member, who served as Lieutenant and Assistant Captain, was named 1978 Rookie of the Year, and was a competitive runner for the SICBP; and Miles Lederer, an 8-year SICBP member, who was a champion rower in the 1970’s and 1980’s and was considered to be a “very conscientious lifeguard and a great leader.”
