Two local Boy Scouts advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout during a ceremony held inside the Sea Isle City United Methodist Church. Eagle Scouts Jacob Hawk Gibson, 19, of Troop 56, and William Henry Poole, 18, of Troop 76, are now members of an elite group of Americans that includes Presidents, Astronauts, Admirals, CEO’s and other notable leaders.

Jacob, a resident of South Seaville, is a graduate of Ocean City High School, who currently attends The College of New Jersey, where he studies Education. For his Eagle Scout Project, Jacob created a Prayer Garden at the South Seaville United Methodist Church, which was dedicated in memory of his friend and fellow scout Thaddeus Lazowski, who passed away during a local airplane accident in 2009.  The garden features benches, evergreens, a dedication stone, and other attractive amenities.

William, a resident of Sea Isle City, is also a graduate of Ocean City High School, who plans to attend Cape May County Technical School in the fall.  For his Eagle Scout Project, William renovated the Food Cupboard at the Sea Isle City United Methodist Church, where he created additional storage, painted walls, and improved the flooring inside the facility.  Afterwards, he hosted a food drive to help stock the cupboard’s shelves.
